COURSE ITNERARY
TOUR DETAILS
This is an itinerary based on the dates 9th-16th May 2010 for four photographers.
DAY ONE You will be collected from an airport and transported to Casa Fontana this will take about two and a half hours, then time for a rest before a short briefing and drinks. 
DAY TWO 08.00 early lake views, fishing nets , boats ,and reedbeds at S.Archangelo. then to Passignano to board a boat for visit to isle Maggiore for lunch and tour of island, old ladies making lace 5pm ish return to Casa Fontana.
DAY THREE 0730 Castiglione del Largo, then through Tuoro stop for quick look at the Hannibal battle sight then over the mountain and down to the Niccone valley 09.30 Preggio or Montone 12.30 lunch at the Poggiomenente restaurant, back over to the lake via Sorbello (should produce some good landscapes.) Casa Fontana dinner
DAY FOUR Photographers and companions will all go on an excursion to Orvieto, a town on a high plateau dominating a landscape of vineyards and olive groves, dotted by cypressess. A paradise of landscape photography. Orvieto Cathedral is one of the wonders of Renaissance Italy. View Signorelli's great fresco cycle depicting the Last Judgement, said to be Michelangelo's inspiration for the Cistine Chapel. Lunch* at one of Orvieto's many leafy garden restaurants (or if photographers want to get on, a packed lunch can be taken) down to lake Bolsena). Lake Bolsena is the deepest volcanic lake in Europe with Etruscan tombs and white skeletal driftwood on the shores.
DAY FIVE In and around the hills behind Casa Fontana for early sunrisse shots and views over Panicale. Afternoon will be spent looking at pictures and assessing.
DAY SIX It's the photographers' turn to visit Perugia, with incomparable views over a Renaissance landscape and a rich choice of mediaeval and cinquecento architectural detai to record. On to Assissi, a town carved out of the mountainside with the buildings seeming to grow out of the rock. Meet up with companions for one of Casa Fontana's famous Prosecco picnics. After lunch, all can view the Basilica di San Francesco, the burial place of St. Francis. Then meet up at 5.00pm (approx) to head off for Torgiano, a charming little hilltop town, surrounded by the famous Lungarotti vineyards. A good opportunity to photograph this scenery and a little wine tasting before dinner at Siro's. This lively restaurant is justly famous for its excellent cuisine and wonderful ambiance.
DAY SEVEN The photographic climax of the week the the Tre Ceri in Gubbio, held on the eve of the anniversary of the death of St Ubaldo. The Ceri are three gigantic wooden structures weighting about 400 Kilos each surmounted by statues of St Ubaldo, St Ggiorgio, and St Antonio,Youths dressed in colourful costumes carry them on their shoulders from the historic part of the town to the top of Mount Ingino where the basilica of the patron stands. The Ceri bearers rush headlong through the streets and then face the arduous and tiring race to the mount.They are followed throughout by an excited crowd also dressed in colourful cotsumes . A vantage point in the Town Hall may be available for the morning session ? this involes the Ceri bearers running around a pole in the square three times before rushing out to the streets of Gubbio. this festival is full of action and colour and a test for your photographic skills. Back to Casa Fontana for a well earned rest. and last supper
